Beads Metals Information

Beads metals information: It is fascinating to learn how beads and metals have been a part of our culture since almost the beginning of human development. In 2006 there were archaeological discoveries in Israel and Algeria of shells dating one hundred thousand years old that were identified as having been used as personal ornaments. Even back then, the need for humans to wear ornaments is evident.

Among the many reasons for wearing these decorative objects, were to indicate social or marital status, religious affiliations, and symbols of groups, like tribes in certain regions of the world or associations in our more recent times. It was also very popular to wear them as amulets or as a means of storing wealth. It was customary for both men and women to wear ornaments.

Prior to the discovery of metals, man used wood, feathers, bones, seeds, shells and pebbles for ornamentation. Strings of animal’s teeth in the form of necklaces have been excavated in many sites and can be seen throughout the museums of the world.

By the time that the civilizations in Mesopotamia and Egypt developed and reached its peaks; records indicate that man was already using gold and silver to make objects of jewelry. Gold neck adornments and chokers have been discovered at the Royal Grave of Ur and in many Egyptian tombs. Since then, all subsequent civilizations have continued to make and wear jewelry. Now, since the late 19th century, with the work of Lalique and Fabergé, jewelry as art began to emerge and flourish.

Today, we can only say that we are so lucky to have such a wide variety of expression through this beautiful medium.

we will add more Beads metals information and we will be adding news articles about jewelry periodically.
