Gemstone charts

Onyx Jade Aventurine

In this page you will find links to a variety of very interesting charts with valuable information pertaining to gemstones from The International Gem Society.

The first link “Gem Listing” gives a comprehensive, individual information for each gem. That includes: chemistry, hardness of the stone, heat sensitivity, wearability, among other things. The other links show charts of very frequently used terminology within the industry. I thought there might be some customers that might want to have all that information readily available.

"MOH'S SCALE OF HARDNESS"

Created, in 1812, by the German mineralogist Friedrich Mohs, the Mohs' scale of hardness quantifies the scratch resistance of minerals by comparing the ability of a harder material to scratch a softer material ranging from Talc (1) to Diamond (10).
